Mr. Celestine, age 79, departed this life on Friday, May 4, 2018, at the Bayou Vista Community Care Center, in Bunkie. The oldest son to the union of the late Lenora Johnson Celestine and Percy Celestine, Sr., Collins was born on March 15, 1939, in Longbridge. As a child, Collins was nurtured in a Christian home and was taught to love the Lord. He was baptized by the late Reverend Scott Smith in 1947 at the Evening Star Baptist Church in Longbridge. He happily used his beautiful singing voice in the church choir and with a gospel group as a youth. Collins was a member of the 1958 graduating class of George Washington Carver High School in Bunkie. As a means for providing for his family, Collins was gainfully employed with Holsum Bakery, Town of Cottonport’s Maintenance Department, and in the construction industry.

In addition to his parents, Collins was preceded in death by two siblings, Calvin Celestine and Dorothy Celestine-Frazier.
